To provide a verifiable biometric and demographic foundational identity to every resident of India, facilitating transparent delivery of welfare subsidies, banking access, and digital KYC services.
General Eligibility Criteria
Any resident who has resided in India for 182 days or more in the 12 months immediately preceding the date of application for enrolment.

- Proof of Identity (POI) (Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Ration Card with photo, Driving Licence)
- Proof of Address (POA) (Passport, Bank Statement / Passbook, Electricity/Water bill, Rent agreement)
- Proof of Date of Birth (PDB) (Birth Certificate, SSLC / Matriculation marksheet, Passport)
- Proof of Relationship (POR) (for Head of Family-based enrolment: PDS Card, CGHS/ECHS card, Birth certificate)
- Valid official UIDAI Standard Certificate issued by Gazetted Officer / MP / MLA / Tehsildar (in absence of standard documents)
General Application Workflow
Standard statutory flow from application presentation to final issuance
Book an appointment online via myAadhaar portal or walk into an authorized Aadhaar Seva Kendra / post office.
Submit completed enrolment/update form along with original valid supporting documents.
Enrolment operator records ten fingerprints, iris scan of both eyes, and high-resolution facial photograph.
Applicant verifies data on operator screen and receives an Enrolment Acknowledgement Slip containing a 28-digit Enrolment ID (EID).
UIDAI deduplicates biometric records; upon generation, e-Aadhaar is downloadable from the portal and physical Aadhaar letter is delivered via Speed Post.
