Directive Principles of State Policy (DPSP)

Constitutional guidelines, socio-economic goals, and principles of governance addressed to the State (Union, State, and Local governments) to build a welfare state.
To realize socio-economic democracy, eradicate poverty, minimize inequalities in income and status, and establish a social order based on justice (social, economic, and political).
Key Articles & Constitutional Provisions
Article 37: Application of Principles
Declares that the provisions shall not be enforceable by any court, but the principles are 'fundamental in the governance of the country and it shall be the duty of the State to apply these principles in making laws'.
Article 40: Organization of Village Panchayats
Directed the State to organize village panchayats with necessary powers, realized through the 73rd Constitutional Amendment.
Article 50: Separation of Judiciary from Executive
Mandates the State to take steps to separate the judicial services from executive control to preserve judicial independence.
