The supreme bicameral legislative body of the Union of India, consisting of the President of India and two representative Houses: the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) and the House of the People (Lok Sabha).
To enact central legislation, debate national policy, scrutinize executive actions, pass the Union Budget, and amend the Constitution within the parameters of the federal compact.

Article 79: Constitution of Parliament
Establishes that Parliament consists of the President, the Council of States (Rajya Sabha), and the House of the People (Lok Sabha).
Article 80 & 81: Composition of the Two Houses
Rajya Sabha represents the States and Union Territories (permanent House with staggered 6-year terms); Lok Sabha is directly elected by universal adult suffrage for 5-year terms.
