Apex union executive ministry responsible for federal economic policy, the central treasury, revenue mobilization, expenditure control, financial regulation, and preparation of the Annual Union Budget of India under the Allocation of Business Rules 1961.
Constitutional & Executive Responsibilities
Formulation and presentation of the Annual Union Budget of India in Parliament
Direct taxation administration through the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT)
Indirect taxation, GST, and customs regulation via the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC)
Supervision of public sector banks, financial institutions, and insurance companies
Management of government expenditure, public debt, and financial fiscal relations with states
